MWS attendees are familiar with the mini program that fits inside the plastic badge holder. It allows one to see what is happening next without looking into the program book.
It was brought to our attention by the wife of a faculty member from a conference in Israel, in the 70s.
We adopted it. For many years the badges were pinned on.
In 1995, Bill Whelan and the fourth President of Israel organized a biotechnology symposium outside Mexico City. There Bill was introduced to lanyards that hold the badge around the neck.
We have used them ever since, to hold the badge and the mini program.
Why was the past President of Israel at a biotechnology symposium?
